Derrick Katongole, better known by his stage name Victor
Kamenyo, is a singer and rapper. He recently opened out about his relationship
with Ruth Akoragye Angora, admitting that his friends at first rejected her.
The singer's friends were uneasy not only about Angora's
behavior at the moment, but also about her family history.
The friends were worried that she wouldn't make a good
marriage because she is a Munyankole woman, according to Kamenyo.
He recalls that one guy gave him a lengthy lecture on how
his lady was similar to a cat.
"This guy told me that a cat is like a princess,
unlike a dog, which serves as a servant in the home. It never shows its owner
loyalty. The 'Nakayima' singer recalled that the pet has no attachments and
will readily accept and adopt to a new owner at any time.
Other acquaintances, according to Kamenyo, warned him
against marrying his woman because "she is from the tribe of rulers"
and because "such women never do housework."
The singer claims that despite admiring and respecting
his friends for their knowledge and expertise, Angora appeared to be the exact
opposite of what they were describing, thus their advise did not make sense.
"I considered the information provided by these
guys, but it doesn't add up. My wife put in a lot of effort. Even though we
employed a housemaid, she got up every morning to mop the house. Because it was
a young relationship, I felt maybe she was still playing me, but a year later,
she was still the same," he stated.
“That is when I realized how
friends and peer pressure can be dangerous to relationships.”
However, Kamenyo acknowledged that his relationship with
Angora, with whom they recently welcomed a baby son, has not always been smooth
sailing.
The couple fought physically the previous year, and
neighbors saw it on camera.
The footage showed Kamenyo chasing Angora all the way to
the gate before grabbing her. Then, while yelling at the top of her lungs for
him to leave her alone, she grabbed his phone and hurled it on the ground.
In an interview this week, Kamenyo discussed the
altercation and said that she had discovered him cheating.
She discovered some texts, so we had to separate. I had
to swallow my pride and admit my mistake once she pointed it out to me.
This occurred sometime in September 2022. Following the
breakup, Kamenyo and Angora both declared their separation to the media.
However, the couple got back together after two months.
Kamenyo claims in the interview that he tried various different strategies to get her back, including visiting with her family.
