Exclusive: New Details Emerge in Mutaaga Family Tragedy - Killer Believed to Be Close Relative

Masked assailant cited family wealth disparity as motive in brutal Entebbe attack that claimed lives of Switzerland-returnees David and Deborah Mutaaga

According to exclusive investigative findings obtained by UgaMusic, new shocking details have emerged about the brutal double homicide of David and Deborah Mutaaga at their Nakiwogo-Entebbe home. Security sources now say the suspect was probably a close family or clan member who attacked the couple over perceived financial differences.

How the Attack Unfolded:
Investigative reports reveal that the assailant gained entry by cutting through the perimeter fence before creating a breach in the home's exterior wall. The intruder first encountered David Mutaaga in the sitting room, where a violent confrontation erupted. During the struggle, the masked attacker reportedly demanded to know why the Mutaagas lived comfortably while "the rest of the clan members are grassing in poverty in Kampala," while simultaneously striking David with both a panga and a knife.

Hearing the commotion, Deborah Mutaaga reportedly placed an emergency call to neighbors while barricaded in the bathroom. Tragically, the assailant forced entry as she pleaded for help. Neighbors who received the call reported hearing Deborah's screams and the attacker's threats before the line went silent.

Returning downstairs, the killer found David still clinging to life and inflicted additional wounds while repeating accusations about the family's wealth disparity before fleeing the scene.

Investigation Breakthroughs:
Despite extensive CCTV coverage, the suspect's identity remains concealed by masking. However, police forensic teams are now focusing on two critical pieces of evidence:

·       Voice analysis from Deborah's phone call recording

·       DNA evidence recovered at the crime scene

Two household staff members have been detained for questioning, though security sources confirm they were absent during the attack. Authorities have also summoned recently visiting relatives for interrogation.

Victims' Background:
The Mutaagas had recently returned to Uganda after spending thirty years in Zurich, Switzerland, where both held prestigious banking roles. David was reportedly the main heir to his late father's estate - a point of contention that investigators believe may have fueled clan resentment.

Ongoing Investigation:
Entebbe Regional Police Commander Frank Mwesigwa confirmed: "This appears to be a deeply personal crime rooted in family dynamics. We're pursuing multiple forensic avenues and urge anyone with information to come forward."

The police have established a dedicated tip line (+256711-911-911) and are reviewing financial records to identify any unusual transactions that preceded the attack.
