In a
recent TV interview, Jowy Landa disclosed that she had lately abandoned the
home where she was staying with her mother. She left school after senior six
because she wanted to pursue a career in music, but she didn't let her mother
know where she was going.
The
singer recalled the period when she was just beginning out in the music
industry and didn't have a home; nevertheless, by that time, her manager had
pledged to provide her a place to stay as they paved their way through the
music industry. She initially worked as a backup vocalist while residing at the
house of a friend.
“I went
to my friends place with no clothes apart from the ones I was wearing and after
a month she chased me’’ Jowy Landa says. She adds that the reason for chasing
her was because she used to wear her friends clothes and also bringing many
people at her home.
It
was the time she then got a boyfriend and started staying at his home and
during that time, she was a backup artistes for many artistes during studio
sessions and used to work till late at night. One day, she returned home and
the boyfriend slapped her during an argument.
It
was until she finally joined Team Good Music but she never went back home
although kept on telling dodging to pick up her mother’s calls.
Born
Joan Namugerwa, Jowy Landa joined the music industry at 18 years as a backup
artistes and later joined Pallaso’s Team Good Music label and did music. After
one year, she left to join Sure Entertainment and De Texas Management and
currently, she is signed to DJ Roger’s 7 Star Management.
Jowy
Landa has a list of songs that include African Girl, Badder Than, Rolex,
Nyumirwa, Buyaka, Wire Wire and Nawe among others.
