Swangz Avenues' 19th edition of Roast and Rhyme was a huge
success, even if the pouring rain threatened to stifle the enthusiasm of
the revelers. Held at Jahazi Pier Munyonyo yesterday, Sunday,
November 26, the event was dubbed a "celebration of music, meat" and
featured food with good company, and the cool breeze of Lake Victoria.
Attendees were resolved to make the most of it, rain or shine.
Sellers were on hand to supply gumboots for anyone with open shoes
as the rain started to pour, making sure that no one had to miss out on the
fun. Early visitors were rewarded with a dry location to set up camp. In
addition, there was a VIP area full of happy partygoers who offered guests a
first-rate experience and the opportunity to take in the celebrations from a
raised, mud-free vantage point.
With
acts like Steve Kays, Myk Ouma and his band, Lydia Jazmine, Levixone, and
Kamanzi on the stage to delight the audience, the program lineup was extremely
light. A notable crowd-pleaser was the Sexy Lydia Jazmine, who had everyone
singing along to her combination of old and new tunes.
Later
on, Beenie Gunter, another gifted dancehall Guru, unexpectedly joined her. His
performance had the whole crowd up and dancing.
With
his nonstop gospel music performance, Levixone enthralled the crowd and
transported them to a spiritual place.
The
weather surely couldn’t mess up the spirits of those who attended Roast And
Rhyme. Big thanks goes to the Ugandans and also the event organizers Swangz
avenue and Buzz events .
