On the 7the of June this month, the President of Uganda,
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni tested positive for the covid 19 virus and the next day
he took a “forced leave” from his office. Museveni’s doctor said he developed
mild flu-like symptoms but continues to perform his duties to perform his
duties normally, adhering to standard operating procedures.
Speaking during the state of the Nation address on
June 7 at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, the president said he had been feeling
unwell, which triggered him to take the tests. Today, the clergy and the
religious leaders join hands to pray for the president’s recovery.
